Somerset West Fire 16 April 2011

On Saturday morning 16th April after leaving a friend's place after a photo shoot, I noticed a huge pall of smoke above me.  On investigation I found that is was coming from one of my favourite places to enjoy nature and a venue for photo shoots, the Helderberg Nature Reserve.  Unfortunately, no one was allowed past the entrance gate as the fire was in the Reserve and moving fast because of an extremely strong South Easterly wind. These photographs were taken from the entrance and depict just a small part of a very sad and devasting fire, possibly the worst that Somerset West has ever experienced.
